National Women s Coach, Gene Muller said "We will come into this tournament on the backdrop of a period of hard training so we will want to play well to do our preparations justice. All the teams here are very close in world rankings so there will be no opportunities for us to take anyone lightly."

Tickets start at 5 euro and can be purchased on line at www.hockey.ie or on the day of the event at the ticket office located beside the National Hockey Stadium, UCD.

Ireland's men, meanwhile, are also in action at Belfield - playing a 4-nations tournament against China, France and Pakistan.

The Matchmaker

Avril Mulcahy

Avril Mulcahy Brazilian

Meet Avril Mulcahy - champion matchmaker!

A Tipperary native, Avril has been organising singles events and matchmaking eligible men and women for as long as she can remember, travelling the world hosting singles events - dinner dating, tall men dating, speed dating… you name it!

Avril first came to prominence on the Australian version of Take Me Out - and is now an entrepreneur, a PR consultant, a NLP Life Coach and the founder of Singlelista, the online dating advice and events forum.

Seen regularly on Irish TV - including TV3’s Ireland AM and RTE’s Saturday Night Show - Avril is best known for her 40 dates in 40 days expedition, which was the first ever-Lenten expedition of its kind in the world. 40 dates was Avril’s quest to gain as much knowledge as possible about the singles scene in Ireland and perhaps find Mr. Right.  The journey was chronicled in a daily blog and featured in press both national and international.  The expedition culminated in a massive charity singles party in Aid of the HOPE Foundation MC’d by Avril herself.

Avril, who has a BCOMM degree from UCC and a Masters in Public Relations from DIT, worked in PR in Ireland and Australia before gaining experience in the professional development and coaching industry. After returning to Ireland last year, Avril completed her training as a NLP Life Coach.

She is much in demand as an MC for events of all kinds.
